The advantages and disadvantages of computer in education

maap semua sebab tak upadate blog, omaw dah bising...
nanti aku update yer... wat sementara waktu aku nak tolong semua student diluar sana tentang COMPUTER... haha~

Over the past decades, computers have become a vastly popular household item. The luxury of emailing messages as opposed to charging up the phone bill is more appealing. Checking news, weather, and sports via the Internet is a convenience that many are taking advantage of it.

Our teenagers and children's lives are already getting influenced by technology – and this is just the beginning. Computers and Internet are here to stay and software titles targeting young children continue to increase. Today, we find computers in use everywhere, whether we go to reserve a train ticket or to a Bank. This is because it is faster and helps us complete our work without mistakes or errors.

In education, computers give a lot of benefits or advantages to the students. One of the advantages is it can help us to find information about our subject syllabus via the internet. There a lot of website that we can surf to find information such as Wikipedia.com and AskYahoo.com. Besides that, Computers help students to be in control of their experience, to set their own pace, and to select the level of challenge with which they feel comfortable. Computers help students to use all of their senses to extract information. Computers also fascinate students and can draw their full attention, which often results in a deeper focus and concentration.

In Addition, good educational software enables children to develop and practice a broad range skill. It can help them learn and practice what they just learn in class and make it more understanding on any sub-topic that they could not understand before in class. Good software can also help students develop their understanding of cause and effect, higher order problem solving, procedural thinking, and creative expression. Computers are helpful because they offer a wide range of functions and services that are not available anywhere else.

Besides that computers also a devices that make students do their project, assignment or presentation easier. By using software such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, those works can be produce faster and easier. We also can duplicate and share with others our works. It also helps us to do the project tidier and we also can put color or images.

But, everything in this world must have their negative side. Computers could not pass from it. Nowadays, the teenagers are dramatically changed due to the computers. This is because the majority of teenagers have their own personal computer (PC) or Notebook and it has played a key role in their lives. One disadvantage of owning a computer is the information that students can access from the Internet. The Internet has also made the youth of today quite lazy, especially in terms of their education. If a student needs to research information for collages, they merely access a relevant site and download the information, rarely paying attention to what is written. They just copy, paste and print it without retouch the source. Besides, to purchasing the network cabling and file servers can be expensive. If the file server breaks down the files on the file server become inaccessible.

The dangerous part is viruses can spread to other computers throughout a computer network. There is a danger of hacking, particularly with wide area networks. When viruses affect the computers, it could not be useful anymore. Frequently and prolonged computer sessions may pose physical health risks for students. The most frequently cited are visual strain, harmful effects of radiation, and posture and skeletal problems. In the case of normal usage and normal operating conditions, however, research has shown that computer monitors are safe and does not compromise the health of our eyes and that computer monitors emit little or no harmful radiation. What does seem to pose a hazard is the strain placed on a user's posture and skeletal structure if she/he consistently uses a computer.

For Surfing the Internet, parental involvement & control is a must. Because maybe the students does not do their homework but instead playing online games or surfing pornsite

Computers are the wave of the future, but old fashioned learning techniques should not be forgotten. A student needs to interact physically with other people and not learn everything from computers.
